  1. Status on Current Bills – New action in Bold
    1. SB 78  - changes relating to guardianships and power of attorney –  Read 3 times and on 4/15/13 approved by Assembly and set to Senate.  4/16/2013 Senate Read first time and Referred to Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections.  Read 3 times and voted out of Senate 4/16/13 Assigned to Assembly  Judiciary Committee.  Reprint 1 available on NELIS system.  No meetings scheduled yet. 
       
    2. AB 108 – Voting Rights bill – Assigned to Legislative Operations and Elections Committee.  Hearings held on 2/26/13 with Comments from 4 person and on 3/12/13   Amended and voted “Do Pass as Amended” from Committee.  Read 3 times and on 4/15/13 approved by Assembly and set to Senate.  4/16/2013 Senate Read first time and Referred to Committee on Legislative Operations and Elections.   Reprint 1 available on NELIS system.  No meetings scheduled yet.  
       
    3. AB 55 – Additional penalty for crimes against persons elderly or vulnerable.  Assigned to Assembly Judiciary.   Hearing held 2/14/13 with one Testimony in support.  Reported as No Action taken.  4/4/13 Hearing at 8 am. Voted Amended and “Do Pass as Amended”.  Read 3 times in Assembly and on 4/15/2013 passed by Assembly and sent to Senate.  4/16/2013 Senate Referred to Committee on Judiciary. Reprint 1 available on NELIS system.  No meetings scheduled yet.  
       
    4. AB 80 – Creating Task Force on Alzheimer’s Disease.  Assigned to Assembly on Health and Human Services.  Hearing held on 2/25/13 with Comments in Support, request to move Task Force from Health Division to Aging and Disability Services Division, and the Nevada State Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease produced by the Interim Committee. 
      Second hearing on 3/1/13 voted to Amend bill and “Do Pass as Amended”.  3/25/2013 Notice of eligibility for exemption.  4/5/2013 After second reading in Assembly, Amended. (Amend. No. 10.) and Rereferred to Committee on Ways and Means.

4/8/2013  Exemption effective.  Reprint 1 available on NELIS system.  No meetings scheduled yet.  
 

  1. SB 277 – Prohibiting the sale of firearms or ammunition to persons where a petition has been filed requesting finding of mental illness.  3/15/13 Read first time.  3/18/13 Sent to Committee on Health and Human Services.  4/3/2013  Notice of eligibility for exemption.  4/9/13 Hearing Held at 3:30 pm.  Testimony heard; No action taken. 

 

The following bills were not voted out of committee by 4/12/13 and “Pursuant to Joint Standing Rule No. 14.3.1, no further action allowed.”

  1. AB 148 - Changes requiring Medicaid patients in SNF be assessed for community placement once a year.  Assigned to Assembly Health and Human Services Committee.  Hearings held on 2/18/13 (discussed as BDR) and 3/8/13 with 2 comments in support and 1 in opposition.  No Action taken.
  2. AB229 – Changes mandatory reporting of elder abuse.   Adds Clergy and attorneys, previously removed in last session.  Assigned to Assembly Judiciary.  Hearing held 3/11/13.  Discussed as BDR.  Read first time in Assembly 3/11 and sent to Printer 3/12/13. 

The following Bill Drafts (BDR) were not introduced as bills.  The last day to introduce a bill was 3/19/13.
